The Significance of the Three Thyroid Antibody Tests
Antibodies against thyroid mainly include three types: anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb), anti-thyroglobulin antibody (TGAb), and thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody (TRAb). These three are all thyroid-specific antibodies and are important indicators used in clinical practice to evaluate the cause of thyroid disease and diagnose thyroid disorders.
Anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) of antibodies against thyroid
Anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody is a key enzyme involved in thyroid hormone synthesis. TPO thyroid peroxidase antibodies can bind to membranes and play an important role in the iodination and coupling of tyrosine residues in thyroglobulin.
It is commonly used as an important indicator for diagnosing autoimmune thyroiditis in combination with an anti-thyroglobulin antibody. If these two indicators are significantly elevated, it often indicates Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Anti-thyroglobulin antibody (TGAb) of antibodies against thyroid
Anti-thyroglobulin antibody has the function of destroying the thyroid follicular epithelium and is an antibody produced in the thyroid follicle after thyroglobulin enters the bloodstream.
Anti TGAb is commonly used as an important indicator for diagnosing autoimmune thyroiditis in combination with anti-thyroid peroxidase antibodies. If these two indicators are significantly elevated, it often indicates Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody (TRAb) of antibodies against thyroid
Thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody is a thyroid autoantibody produced by the body during the immune response and is a commonly used indicator for evaluating autoimmune thyroid disorders in clinical practice.
Antibodies against thyroid peroxidase have high value in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Graves' disease, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, as well as assisting in the diagnosis of thyroid hyperfunction, thyroid nodules, subacute thyroiditis, and other thyroid diseases.
If abnormal results are obtained from related tests, it is recommended that patients undergo follow-up tests within a short period (one month) to supplement other tests, identify the cause, and perform relevant examinations. Even if diagnosed with thyroid-related diseases, patients should not have too much psychological pressure, maintain good living habits and adequate sleep, engage in sufficient exercise, and change unfavorable factors, all of which can help improve symptoms.
